Dougie Taylor

Dougie is our company director and principal consultant with over 10 years experience in fisheries, marine mammal, and seabird, monitoring and conservation. Following an HNC in Habitat Surveying for Nature Conservation with the Scottish Wildlife Trust, and a BSc in Marine Biology & Oceanography from the University of Wales, Bangor in 2000, he went on to work as a CCAMLR (Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources) Scientific Observer. He undertook several deployments in the South Georgia Dissostychus long-line fishery and was the first UK observer to work in the Ross Sea. Whilst helping develop conservation measures and devices to reduce the incidental mortality of seabirds, he collected fishing, environmental, and biological data, and was closely involved in several British Antarctic Survey projects. In recent years Dougie has mainly been involved in marine mammal mitigation as an MMO and PAM operator. His fieldwork has taken him through 6 continents and a vast sweep of maritime environments from coastal and shelf seas to open oceans, in polar, temperate, and tropical regions. On a local scale he has worked with Fisheries Research Services and the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency.
